Projects

IBA poverty project

For the past few months I've been leading the International Bar Association's multimedia project on poverty and human rights.

I pitched poverty coverage at one of our November 2018 content meetings, following the release of the UN reports on poverty in the UK and the US. Since then, I have been coordinating a series of articles and films covering poverty as a rule of law issue. Months of work have so far culminated in the publication of a feature article, a filmed interview, and a news analysis piece based on interviews with the UN Special Rapporteur for extreme poverty and human rights, Professor Philip Alston.

It was a great privilege to work with Professor Alston, Neil Gold of the IBA Poverty and Social Development Committee, and Child Poverty Action Group's Louisa McGeehan and Carla Clarke, who all contributed to my own news analysis article on what the recognition of social rights would mean for poverty in the UK.

The project is ongoing, so watch this space!

IBA multimedia project on the humanitarian response to migration crises

I am coordinating IBA content on the migration crisis, acknowledging that the global response has been an aggressive lockdown of borders instead of a more humanitarian response.
